James Barta is a partner at Castle Breckenridge Management, Inc. with John T. Kalas since they merged their companies in 1994. With over 35 years of management experience and educational qualifications, Barta previously owned his own management company, Breckenridge Management, located in La Mesa, California.

Prior to founding his own property management company in late 1970, Barta was the head of the Management Division of San Diego Trust and Savings in Downtown San Diego.

In 2003 he became a board member of California Association of Community Managers (CACM) where he earned his Certified Community Association Manager (CCAM) designation. He also served on the board of directors of the Apartment Owners’ Association and in the early 1980’s he held office on the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) board of directors where he earned his Certified Property Management (CPM) designation. Barta also holds a Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) designation from Community Associations Institute (CAI).

James holds a Masters Degree in Econometrics and a Bachelors degree in Mathematics.

A native of San Diego, Jim is married with two grown children and a grandson. He resides and works in La Mesa, California where he serves on the Board of directors for his church San Carlos United Methodist. He enjoys hiking, biking, skiing and fly fishing in his spare time.
